Playground Study
This study was conducted to explore children's movement and language on a typical child care playground. Research questions explored the differences between young children from underserved backgrounds versus those who are not in the frequency and amount of time spent on playground equipment, levels of physical activity, and amounts of talk encouraging physical activity from teachers and peers?
Data were gathered using real-time location systems (Ubisense) to measure children's movement, and speech recognition, digital language processors (LENA) to measure language.
