Tele-Intervention Survey for Families

Early Childhood Research Initiative
University of Kentucky

We are exploring the changes in services for infants and toddlers with disabilities served through the state early intervention services (First Steps) provided through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Until COVID-19, early intervention services were delivered to families primarily in their homes or in other natural settings, such as child care. In March 2020 these services either ceased or shifted to remote service delivery via tele-intervention. We will examine family perceptions of how this transition has impacted early intervention services and the effect on children’s developmental progress.

Survey Information

Who is Conducting the Survey?

The Early Childhood Research and Development Initiative at the University of Kentucky is inviting families with children enrolled in First Steps to complete a brief survey on their experiences with and thoughts on the transition to tele-intervention.

Who Should Complete the Survey?

This survey is to be completed by parents or guardians of children enrolled in First Steps, including those who opted not to participate in tele-intervention. Families with more than one child enrolled in First Steps may complete a separate survey for each child, but only one survey per child should be completed.

Why Should I Complete the Survey?

Your voice matters! You can provide information that can be used by the early intervention field to make positive changes to remote service delivery that benefits the families and children they serve.

The data generated by this survey can be used to:

  • Improve program responsiveness to children and their families.

  • Build new knowledge that can inform policies and practices.

  • Strengthen the connection between families and communities and the programs that serve them.

  • Improve the design and delivery of programs and services.

How Long Will the Survey Take?

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Do I Have to Complete the Survey?

Your participation is voluntary and you may refuse to answer any questions you do not wish to answer.

Do I Get Anything if I Complete the Survey?

Participants completing the survey will have the option to provide their contact information to be entered into a random drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card.
